So I’m pointing to Cuba and a student says “That’s Alaska, right?” :/ I have found that even high schoolers need a little refresher on where places are. My favorite wall art is my shower curtain map from Target. The students enjoy looking at it and because it’s background is clear, I feel like it takes up less visual space. It’s easy to tape things, put Post-its and use stickers. They are removable too, unlike a paper map.
At the beginning of the year, most students pick a Spanish name to use in class. As an activity (that I totally stole from Megan), I’ve given students a Hispanic country that they are from too. It’s fun for the students to put their names next to the places they are from on the map.
